Choice galore or choice fatigue: Does choice really matter in slot games?

The inaugural iGB Crystal Ball webinar is available to watch on demand now and features expert insight from movers and shakers in the industry. Fill out the form above to watch it now.

We are excited to introduce the iGB Crystal Ball webinar series, a new format of panel discussions looking into the future of the gambling industry.

Future instalments, including two hosted live at ICE Barcelona 2026, will cover subjects as diverse as the size of the black market and the use of artificial intelligence across the sector.

But first up, we kicked off by delving into the topic of casino innovation and choice fatigue. Just how many slot games does an online casino actually need?

iGB host James Swann-Phillips was joined by Yan Shif, CEO and co-founder of Megafair; Fellipe Fraga, chief business officer at Estrelabet; and Simon Collins, chairman of Jogo Global.

The expert panel discussed the value of choice, personalisation and curation, innovation in game types, gamification and engagement loops before looking into the iGB Crystal Ball and giving their predictions for the future of casino innovation.

Simon raises how there’s evidence of choice fatigue and how operators need to be looking at things like Netflix to perfect personalisation; Fellipe talks about the importance of pointing players in the right direction and Yan shares his opinion that nostalgia is the main reason for slots remaining the most popular game globally and that an era of exclusive games is just around the corner.

With many years of combined experience at some of the most exciting companies in the iGaming sector, our global panel (who dialled in from London, Amsterdam and Belo Horizonte respectively) provided plenty of valuable insights and expert commentary.
